How it works
We all have a part in creating, or eliminating, access. Inclusive design aims to remove the barriers that create undue effort and separation.
Why do we need to design for inclusion?
Inclusive design enables everyone to participate equally, confidently and independently in everyday activities. Developing an accessible online world democratizes access to information, creating a fair system and a more human future for people. Moreover, without inclusion at the heart of the AI age, we risk amplifying the cycle of exclusion on a massive scale.

How does it work?
The 6-week program includes 2-hour live workshops (on Saturday mornings) plus practical weekly assignments that result in a product proposal, a dedicated product website, and your membership in a cohort of outstanding creators.
  • 1. Registration
    Simply fill out the registration form to sign up. We welcome all backgrounds, industries, and technical skills - you can work as a technology maker, as an artist, or in public policy, your motivation is what matters most.
  • 2. Onboarding
    By attending this course, you'll become a permanent member of Craft Product School and Inclusive Design fellowship, this allowing you to continue learning, experimenting, and building with a supportive community as you keep going on your journey.
  • 3. Start learning
    We will be holding weekly sessions with our tutor and experts, and individual practical exercises and learning throughout the week. You'll have the chance to test ideas, brainstorm and build in teams, all while learning about inclusive design and accessibility principles.
  • 4. Share project
    At the end of the course, we will reserve a session for sharing your project with the broader community. We're also exploring the possibility of an exhibition, during which some of your ideas can be exposed in an online gallery.
Our aim
In this fellowship, participants won't just develop another new product, but reflect on how their idea impacts the lives of others. They will also learn to identify and overcome the inequity present in our current systems of design and product development that stem from larger societal injustices such as ableism.
Our aim is to approach inclusive design and development from an intersectional and holistic point of view and to connect it with larger structures for equity and collective liberation.

  • 16th of April 2022:
    Problem discovery
    What we will learn:
    What is bias and how to overcome it?
    What is inclusive design and what is accessibility?
    The difference and intersections between bias and inclusive design
    What does it mean to have an inclusive user base?
    What does disability mean?
    What does discrimination mean?
  • 23rd of April 2022:
    User interviews & Panel week
    What we will learn:
    Living in a largely inaccessible world
    What is intersectionality?
    How to be inclusive in your research (user interviews, usability research)?
    During this session we will host a panel where we'll invite people of different abilities to share their perspectives and experiences in our collective effort in creating for disability justice.

  • 30th of April 2022:
    Brainstorming techniques
    What we will learn:
    The Design For Diversity Framework
    During this session we will be critically looking at how universalist design practices erase certain groups of people--specifically, those who are intersectionally disadvantaged or burdened under the matrix of domination, and using creativity and brainstorming techniques to tell future stories of equality and inclusion.
  • 7th of May 2022:
    Redefining the Lean Canvas for inclusion
    What we will learn:
    How might define our customer segments in a more inclusive way?
    How might we be more inclusive when it comes to channels of distribution?
    How might we redesign the Lean Canvas for inclusion and equity?
    How might we challenge old business models and brainstorm for a more equitable business ecosystem?
  • 14th of May 2022:
    Rapid prototyping

    What we will learn:
    We'll be exploring no-code tools like Carrd, Notion, Dorik, Tilda, Webflow, Softr and others. We will learn about the lean product development process and why starting with inclusive design practices and accessibility is crucial, even when developing an MVP.
  • 21st of May 2022:
    Product marketing

    What we will learn:
    Communicating with early adopters
    Future of accessibility
    During this session we will be looking at how our addressable market changes when thinking about it in an inclusive way, how to communicate mindfully with our early adopters and what is the future of accessible technology.
Tutors
Our instructors are experienced professionals in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Accessibility, Product Development,
and Feminist Design.
  • Andra Bria
    Product Developer, MA in Equality Policies and Gender Mainstreaming, Founder
    Andra Bria is a digital product designer and an activist for women's rights and human rights. She has a MA in equality policies and gender mainstreaming and is the founder of Craft Product School, a product innovation school for ethical technologies. During Craft Product School's courses, Design for Equality and Design for Degrowth, participants are prototyping products for a more just and equitable world, in harmony with the environment.


  • Dr. Michele A. Williams
    W3C-WAI Invited Expert, Author and Inventor
    Dr. Michele A. Williams is owner of M.A.W. Consulting, LLC - Making Accessibility Work. Her 17 years of experience include influencing top tech companies as a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher and Accessibility Consultant, and obtaining a PhD in Human-Centered Computing focused on accessibility. A W3C-WAI Invited Expert, international speaker, published academic author, and patented inventor, she is passionate about educating and advising on technology that does not exclude disabled users.
